Acrylic nail is an artificial nail which is glued on the natural nail. These acrylic nails are formed by combining a liquid (EMA, i.e., Ethyl Methacrylate or MMA, i.e., MethylMethacrylate) and a powder. The nails made of EMA are generally more long-lasting and flexible than those made of MMA. MMA nails might be cheaper, but often they cause skin irritation. So it’s always recommended to go for acrylic nails made up of EMA.

Acrylic nails are not new in the market; these nails are in fashion since centuries. The Egyptians were the first one to introduce these artificial acrylic nails. However, at that time these nails were worn by ladies belonging to affluent class while nowadays those ladies who have brittle nails wear them too. Being made up of resilient substance they prove to be more elastic and flexible nails good for brittle nails.

Wearing artificial nails doesn’t mean that you don’t have to care for them instead you have to care for them a lot. Few things have to be kept in mind while going for acrylic nails:

– When applying you must be sure that your natural nail is moisture free or infection would appear after some days beneath the artificial nail.

– Even after the application you must not keep your nails under water for long time. Water might seep through and create infection. It may also create a gap between the natural nail and the acrylic nail which can also lead to fungus or bacteria growth.

The acrylic nail care service is not as costly as the gel nail service and will complete in 20 minutes. Their robust feature makes them ideal for piercing and other embellishments.

Applying acrylic nails:

Step 1:

Prepare the nails by removing any old nail polish present on the nail. Clean the nails with hand sanitizer.

Step 2:

File and buff the nail. Try to make the nail a bit rough. Put the artificial nail extensions beside the hand.

Step 3:

Apply glue to the nail extension and stick it onto the natural nail.

Step 4:

Dip the brush into the liquid to get a little quantity, which is enough for one nail. Then dip this brush into the acrylic powder. A small moist ball would be formed at the brush end. Apply this to the nail.

Step 5:

Repeat the process in order to make the surface even. Ensure that no discrimination can be made between the natural nail and the artificial one.

Step 6:

After every coat of the acrylic mixture check that it doesn’t touch the cuticles otherwise it would lead to lifting of the skin.

Step 7:

Allow the nails to dry for 15 minutes. Once they become hard you can file them.

Step 8:

Now your nails are ready for French manicure or any gel or simple nail color application.

You can do this process at home to save money and time. However, if you want to pamper yourself, then you must visit a salon and let the nail professional do this job for you.
